John 7:1 After these things Yashua walked in Galilee: for He would not walk in Jewry (Judaea), because the Jews sought to kill Him.

If Rosh HaShanah and Yom Kippur prepare the mind for Teshuvah,  repentance , and help the soul achieve Divine forgiveness, Sukkot is like a congratulations party for the body after a long , spiritual journey.

Also called zeman simhateeinu , the season of our rejoicing, Sukkot is about joy and giving thanks. When the children of Israel were wandering in the desert after leaving the slavery of Egypt, they had nothing with them except what they could carry. Their sole dependence was on their leaders and Yahveh.

Yahveh brought them manna for food.

Exodus 16:4 Then said Yahveh unto Moses, Behold, I will rain bread from heaven for you; and the people shall go out and gather a certain rate every day, that I may prove them, where they will walk in My Law (Torah) .

Exodus 16:5 And it shall come to pass, that on the sixth day they shall prepare that which they bring in; and it shall be twice as much as they gather daily.

Exodus 16:6 And Moses and Aaron said unto all the children of Israel, At even, then you shall know that Yahveh has brought you out from the land of Egypt:

Exodus 16:7 And in the morning, then you shall see the glory of Yahveh; for that He hears your murmuring against Yahveh: and what are we, that you murmur against us?

Exodus 16:8 And Moses said, This shall be, when Yahveh shall give you in the evening flesh to eat, and in the morning bread to the full; for that Yahveh hears your murmurings which you murmur against Him: and what are we? your murmuring are not against us, but against Yahveh.

Exodus 16:9 And Moses spoke unto Aaron, Say unto all the congregation of the children of Israel, Come near before Yahveh: for He has heard your murmurings.

Exodus 16:10 And it came to pass, as Aaron spoke unto the whole congregation of the children of Israel, that they looked toward the wilderness, and, behold, the glory of Yahveh appeared in the cloud.

Exodus 16:11 And Yahveh spoke unto Moses, saying,

Exodus 16:12 I have heard the murmurings of the children of Israel: speak unto them, saying, At even you shall eat flesh, and in the morning you shall be filled with bread; and you shall know that I am Yahveh your Elohiym.

Exodus 16:13 And it came to pass, that at even the quails came up, and covered the camp: and in the morning the dew lay round about the host.

Exodus 16:14 And when the dew that lay was gone up, behold, upon the face of the wilderness there lay a small round thing, as small as a bowl on the ground.

Exodus 16:15 And when the children of Israel saw it, they said one to another, It is manna: for they know not what it was. And Moses said unto them, This is the bread which Yahveh has given you to eat.

4478 !m'  manna , the bread from Heaven that fed the Israelites for 40  years of wilderness

Exodus 16:16 This is the thing which Yahveh has commanded, Gather of it every man according to his eating, an omer (about 2 liters) for every man, according to the number of your persons; take you every man for them which are in his tents.

                                             Clouds for shelter

Numbers 9:15 And on the day that the tabernacle was reared up the cloud covered the tabernacle, namely, the tent of the testimony: and at even there was upon the tabernacle as it were the appearance of fire, until the morning.

Numbers 9:16 So it was always: the cloud covered it by day, and the appearance of fire by night.

Numbers 9:17 And when the cloud was taken up from the tabernacle, then after that the children of Israel journeyed: and in the place where the cloud abode, there the children of Israel pitched their tents.

Numbers 9:18 At the Commandment of Yahveh the children of Israel journeyed, and at the Commandment of Yahveh they pitched: as long as the cloud abode upon the tabernacle they rested in their tents.

Numbers 9:19 And when the cloud tarried long upon the tabernacle many days, then the children of Israel kept the charge of Yahveh, and journeyed not.

Numbers 9:20 And so it was, when the cloud was a few days upon the tabernacle; according to the commandment of Yahveh they abode in their tents, and according to the commandment of Yahveh they journeyed.

Numbers 9:21 And so it was, when the cloud abode from even unto the morning, and that the cloud was taken up in the morning, then they journeyed: whether it was by day or by night that the cloud was taken up, they journeyed.

Numbers 9:22 Or whether it were two days, or a month, or a year, that the cloud tarried upon the tabernacle, remaining thereon, the children of Israel abode in their tents, and journeyed not: but when it was taken up, they journeyed.

Numbers 9:23 At the Commandment of Yahveh they rested in the tents, and at the commandment of Yahveh they journeyed: they kept the charge of Yahveh, at the commandment of Yahveh by the hand of Moses.

Exodus 33:12 And Moses said unto Yahveh, See, You said unto me, Bring up this people: and you have not let me know whom you will send with me. Yet you have said, I know you by name, and you have also found grace in My sight.

Exodus 33:13 Now therefore, I pray You, if I have found grace in Your sight, show me now Your way, that I may know You, that I may find grace in Your sight: and consider that this nation is Your people.

Exodus 33:14 And He said, My presence shall go with you, and I will give you rest.

Exodus 33:15 And Mosheh said unto Yahveh, If Your presence go not with me, carry us not up there.

Exodus 33:16 For wherein shall it be known here that I and Your people have found grace in Your sight? is it not in that You go with us? so shall we be separated, I and Your people, from all the people that are upon the face of the earth.

Exodus 33:17 And Yahveh said unto Moses, I will do this thing also that you have spoken: for you have found grace in My sight, and I know you by name.

Exodus 15:25 And he cried unto Yahveh; and Yahveh showed him a tree, which when he had cast into the waters, the waters were made sweet: there he made for them a decree and an ordinance, and there He(Yahveh) proved them,

Exodus 15:26  And said, If you will diligently hearken to the voice of Yahveh your Elohiym, and will do that which is right in His sight, and will give ear to His commandments, and keep all His decrees, I will put none of these diseases upon you, which I have brought upon the Egyptians: for I am Yahveh that heals you.

Exodus 17:5 And Yahveh said unto Moses, Go on before the people, and take with you of the elders of Israel; and your rod, wherewith you smote the river, take it in your hand, and go.

Exodus 17:6 Behold, I will stand before you there upon the rock in Horeb; and you shall smite the rock, and there shall come water out of it, that the people may drink. And Moses did so in the sight of the elders of Israel.

Exodus 17:7 And he called the name of the place Massah,(Tempted) and Meribah,(stir or contention) because of the chiding of the children of Israel, and because they tempted Yahveh, saying, Is Yahveh among us, or not?

Numbers 20:7 And Yahveh spoke unto Moses, saying,

Numbers 20:8  Take the rod, and gather you the assembly together, you, and Aaron your brother, and speak you unto the rock before their eyes; and it shall give forth His water, and you shall bring forth to them water out of the rock: so you shall give the congregation and their beasts drink.

Numbers 20:12 And Yahveh spoke unto Moses and Aaron, Because you believed Me not, to sanctify Me in the eyes of the children of Israel, therefore you shall not bring this congregation into the land which I have given them.

Numbers 20:13 This is the water of Meribah; because the children of Israel strove with Yahveh, and He was sanctified in them.

Deuteronomy 29:5 And I have led you forty years in the wilderness: your clothes are not waxen old upon you, and your shoe is not waxen old upon your foot.

The Sukkah in which they lived provided the protection they needed to feel safe until they reached the land of Israel.

Like wise , living in a Sukkah today , even for just one week, teaches us that all we have , the very roof over our heads , is from Yahveh , and not by our own might. The open roof allows us also to look for Yahveh as they did.
